As a DM, there's nothing more frustrating in the short term and ultimately beneficial to the richness of the campaign in the long term than one of the players making a really good point.

It can be a curse of the dice. I get frustrated when the probability is not followed whereas the dice will not roll above it's half-value mark.

When they took two hours to solve a mystery that an NPC had outright told them the answer to at the beginning of the session, that level went down (a little, it was still good roleplaying)

However, when they talked their way out of a combat encounter, it went way up. They encountered an impostor pretending to be a goddess of a group of gullible primitives, talked her into going legit, protected her from the fallout of her actions and secured her continuing rule on the condition that she embody the virtues she had pretended to endorse before. It was weird, but everyone was happy, and it was not an outcome I had thought possible.

1st blank: had the most valuable member of their party be the one who hugged a prismatic wall
2nd blank: Successfully instated a half-elf as a Baron in a fantastic racist country

...Unfortunately, that was two different groups. ...Maybe I should think about this per group.

Group 1:
-Killed a wizard after going to the trouble to get to one so they could disenchant their fake fool's gold coins.
-Used half-troll farts as a mode of transportation. ...I am pretty desperate.

Group 1.5:
-PRISMATIC WALL HUGGING. Seriously...
Honorable mention for when I was a party member: giving a penguin as a gift to the king (we were a circus). Then deciding, 'No, we want the penguin back,' stealing it back, and starting a war with a neighboring country that got blamed.
-Killed a Prismatic Dragon by getting someone so drunk that when they jumped in its mouth, the dragon died of alcohol poisoning. ...And it was off an airship, so it was even more impressive.
Honorable mention: Being a circus. Every party member had a role. ...We never actually got to do any shows, but it would have been glorious. We even captured some acid-spitting, mutant dinosaur things that I was going to train.

Group 2:
-Decided when trying to do a paper on the languages of the city to go to the ONE temple that had NO priests that spoke any languages they knew. ...The temple to the Orc God of Stupidity, Bahgtru. (Also strength and loyalty, but who cares about those?)
-Worked together to make a reoccurring villain... The High Priest of Bahgtru, Orc. They even did voices and had him appear randomly to mess things up. ...Despite him being 20th level and them being much lower, his 1 Int (most of which was used up on knowing how to speak Orc) made him ineffectual enough yet also sometimes a hassle.
Honorable mention to the same group when I was a player successfully roleplaying having the 'Big Steel Minotaur' and the 'hard-ass detective' interrogating a prisoner with a Good Cop/Bad Cop routine...with Good Cop/Bad Cop determined by Intimidate and Diplomacy, but our actual actions determined by personality as well. The minotaur had high Intimidate as this was 4.0, and his class/race gave that, but he was basically a giant Nice Guy. The Genasi Detective had high diplomacy, but was a cynical snarky jerk. We played the nicest Bad Cop and the meanest Good Cop.

Group 3:
-Decided that instead of going after the Big Bad as his prison breaks apart and rips a tear in reality, they would read Gentlepony Adventure books. For three sessions. Making me write all about them.
-Befriended a party member's Evil Mirror Double AND found a way to get said double home safely (fortunately, monks come back).

Group 4:
-Deciding that no, they didn't want to break out of the holding cell of the police station, as it was too nice.
-Actually being able to do a murder mystery session. Seriously, most of my other players would have given up. And the others would have decided that 'someone on this ship must be the murderer' means 'kill everyone else and then I will be safe'. Kudos to them for solving the mystery without adding to the body count.

*Looks at "Group 3"* Hey, I remember that story. *Looks for two hours, and fails* :(

I have a good respect for many of my players as a GM, but one player in particular does have a slippery slope of doing good and bad, such as murdering everything he can with no thought on the reproductions, but making up for it by being one with the story, and attempt to follow it to the end.

Speaking of which, how on earth did you justify that being an actual quest? Where did you manage to find a place where that fit in?

The "tracks" seem to be plot materials to be pulled up, the iron melted down to patch up the party train, and the wood tossed in the furnace to supplement or replace the coal.

No, no, pulling them up fuels going off in a new direction, a quest forms around it...and rails, which get pulled up to restart the cycle.

The trick to making sure the quests get finished is, make sure the party's built up enough inertia to smash through the goal before it can change course.

good episode overall and to avoid any controversy I will say this "What wasn't said in this episode shows once again Equestria is far more progressive than our world"

1. Peter New made a small fortune on this episode

2. So many Dawww moments

3. If you watch the whole episode and listen to everything said there is no way you could possibly misinturprit the message of the episode -_- (sorry something on a page I manage got to me and this is my passive aggressive response)

any way on to the next episode which is I'm not sure but Hopefully Twilight gets to finally do something ^_^

I'm happy to see that Dash hasn't said anything about her plan going to waste, and is more enthralled by her friend going missing.

You should've used the advanced sadness applebloom from when they lose the bet with the Flim Flam brothers. That's easily one of the best faces in the show. Though I suppose it would've been rather low resolution.

I would not put that past NS, possibly after the DM pulls a "okay, you want to look, but rainwater hurricane more important so prepared plot first (so you can be just starting to look for AJ at the start of next session when AJ's player can return)".

My players generally don't detail much family to make it a concern for checking on. On the other hand, I generally don't go kidnapping family of the PCs unless they ask for such a quest.

This comic reminds me of when everyone in my FOE game asked if my character's parents were around. The fact that the party is currently in the stable Astral currently lives in means that his parents should be around. But the DM and I never really got around to hashing out the details of that so his parents still remain anonymous to this day. It might come up later, but I doubt it.

I don't know, I've started running a new game with my current group, and one of my players obstinately pointed out that as a druid, even at level one, there was no reason for him to show up at the inn I was going to use as a hub. However, in his background as a hermit (5E), he was a guardian of an artifact, so I decided that his character had heard rumors about a knockoff that somehow also had power. This drew his character into town, and gave me an excuse to populate the private booth in the back of the inn...

One thing lead to another, and now they've got to think about a viking, a wizard who sneaked into a city with laws against arcane magic, while actively powering a suite of arcane wards, and at least one, potentially more, loose sacks of distilled mummy rot floating around somewhere. And they can only deal with this after they track down the lost mercenary group who went missing after traveling to a ruined fort, which doubles as the entrance to a campaign mega-dungeon, like I originally planned anyway. Plus all the players had fun and memorable moments that keyed into both character and player motivations, in most cases simultaneously. Score! Now to see if I can keep this ball rolling next session...

Ultimately... Oh wait, misread the prompt, yeah frustrating short term tremendous use for long term. Though I'm not sure how long this game of mine will run. As this is just meant as a break from the main game as the GM wanted a chance to experience it as a player again for a while. Still, should be interesting to see how far into the rabbit hole the players, and myself honestly, will go.
